Air Conditioning Ducting Control System

One of our on-going products is the control system for a machine producing finished ventilation ducting from coil steel stock.

This ducting is in a range of sizes, sections and gauges, all fully definable through the use of our control system. The ideas for the machine were originally brought to us by our client in the form of hand drawn sketches and notes.

From these initial ideas we worked closely with our client to design and produce a control system which achieved what the client had originally conceived in his sketches. The machine and control system produce pieces of ducting with an average time of 1 piece of duct a minute. This is very impressive when considering that it takes 15-20 minutes to produce a piece of duct manually. The original first version of the machine and control system were sold over twenty five years ago, and are still in use all over the world!

The control system has been in production for more than 25 years by Jubilee Electronics. Over the course of these years the control systems hardware and software has been updated and revised to make the best use of current technologies (the control system is currently on its 7th revision).

The control systems software, along with the customers parts and jobs library, are held on solid state flash memory, removing the need for fragile hard disk drives to be introduced into a harsh industrial environment. The control computer is custom designed and manufactured by us, using a UK produced embedded processor CPU unit. All of the software for the control system is designed at Jubilee Electronics, allowing rapid development when new features are requested by the machine manufacturer or end user.

All machine control is handled by a separate embedded processor. Advanced system diagnostics for a variety of purposes give clear on screen indications to the machine operators. All drive to the hydraulic solenoid valves is fully protected by intelligent output devices. All hardware design for the control system is undertaken at Jubilee Electronics, allowing customer requirements to be quickly incorporated into newer revisions of the controller.

The software is fully configurable to suit a large variety of machine configurations. Connection to a remote computer via serial link, Ethernet or Wi-Fi allows easy downloading of job data from other work management software. The wide range of connectivity options also ensures that system updates and backups are easy to undertake. Extensive diagnostic aids are incorporated into the software to allow us to provide concise and informative support to customers all over the world.

The control system is constantly revised and updated by us to allow for new developments and requirements, for example, Wi-Fi capabilities were recently incorporated to allow the use of remote diagnostics and production monitoring aids. Whenever a revision or new feature is required by our customer, we will let them worry about their requirements while we worry about the technical details. We realise that customers do not want to be bogged down with technical information; all that is important to them is that their requirements can be brought into reality.

The machine and control system is in use in every continent of the World excluding Antarctica.
